Coleford Tower
DHV Architects are leading the repair and regeneration project for the Grade II-listed former church tower in the centre of Coleford in the Forest of Dean, for Coleford Town Council.
The tower is a prominent cultural landmark in Coleford, but has been closed for a number of years.
Listed Building Consent has been granted for alterations to the historic clock tower in Coleford. The alterations include safety improvements that will make the building more publicly accessible and safe to access following a long period of closure. The approved plans include:
repairs to the existing structures, building fabric and reinstatement of internal and external historic features; improvements to the existing rainwater drainage strategy; managed opening of the ground floor during planned events to allow public access into the building; re-opening of the east entrance and redesign of the existing war memorial; an accessible first floor education room with safety improvements to the existing internal narrow stair; reinterpretation of the redundant clock mechanisms and exhibition features about the clock history.
